Sustainability Teaching Case Studies

Interested to see how Sustainability is already being taught within Unitec programmes?

89% of Unitec students consider knowledge of sustainable practices important for future employment (Unitec U Matter Survey, 2017). Our goal is to have sustainability embedded within 100% of our programmes by 2020.

These case studies show some of the different ways Unitec students are learning about sustainability at Unitec. From vehicle technicians trained to optimise vehicle efficiency and recycling of automotive waste, landscape architects able to rebuild vibrant communities, to architects able to create affordable sustainable housing.

Unitec’s One Planet Living Strategy vision is that every Unitec student become a kaitiaki, gaining an explicit understanding of sustainability from an individual, cultural and professional perspective. Our aim is to produce graduates with the skills and expertise required to create real-world sustainability solutions.
